There are many different types of kayaks available in the market today. Below I will go over some of the differences of each type of kayak. From sit on top, to sit inside, lightweight kayaks and pedal kayaks.

The hobie foot pedal kayak is controlled using your feet and the rudder using one hand. One of my personal favorites! Your legs are bigger muscles than your arms so it will be similar to bike ridding the faster you move your feet the more you will feel your muscles working. Benefits include faster recovery time after your done kayaking. This type of pedal goes through weeds with ease and doesn't get stuck as much in seaweed conditions. The one shown above has the newer upright seat but they also come in soft seats which are lower to the water. The upright seating is easier on the back. The only drawback is the heavier weight of the kayak. But they do offer dollies for transporting to the water which is worth the price! The longer you go the more it weights the one in the picture is 10ft. Cockpit in this type of kayaking can make standing harder but hobie makes different models like the pro angler which you can stand and fish from. Some hobies have reverse some do not. How often do you go in reverse on a kayak not very often unless your a fisherman and need to back away from a dock or something. The hobie can do a circle for turning around so reverse is often not nessasary.
